A message from the President,

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Dear colleagues,

This year, the WORLD CANCER DAY is being celebrated in a challenging scenario, no thanks to the notorious COVID-19 pandemic. We have seen our already strenuous but commendable efforts in battling cancers have been further complicated by the chaotic destruction caused by the virus. However, InsyaAllah, god willing, we will continue the fight on both fronts and gather whatever strength and resources that we have, to protect and reduce the suffering of our patients, friends and families.

The theme I AM AND I WILL is aptly chosen to give added courage and focus in combating cancer. Even with the advancement in technology and health professionals’ skills, cancer remains among the major causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. In Malaysia, cancer remains in top 5 as the major cause of death (Dept. of statistics, 2020).

COVID-19 pandemic has caused delay and difficulty in access to oncology services due to various pandemic related factors such as lockdowns, quarantines, limited mobility and etc. Let us hope and pray to Allah Almighty, to give us strength and courage to continue the struggle against these two diseases (and other diseases) and grant us victory. Let us be reminded by the Quranic verse;

“and whoever saves the life of a person is as if he has saved the life of the whole of humankind” (Al – Maidah verse 32)

World Cancer Day 2021
I AM AND I WILL

Warmest regards,
